This is definitely one of those recipes that tastes much better than it sounds, especially with chicken, but it’s a great ‘quick fix’ baby dinner when you need to put something together in a hurry. Leave out the chicken and it also makes a great dessert for toddlers. The first time I made it, little sister had to fight big brother for her share of the pot.
Recipe tips
For a breakfast, snack, dessert or the vegetarian option, leave plain. As a dinner or for something more filling, add chicken. If you’re using chicken preferably use both the brown and the white meat or just the brown meat leftover from a roast, as the brown contains much more iron. Otherwise chicken breast will do just as well.
Ingredients
1 ripe avocado
1/2 small banana
20 g cooked chicken *optional*
Method
1. Peel and stone avocado. Peel banana.
2. Put all ingredients into a bowl and blend with a handheld blender (such as a Bamix) until smooth and creamy, alternatively use a food processor.

Is it possible to blend all 3 and freeze in ice cube trays?
Yes and you could add a small amount of lemon juice to stop it turning brown. Let us know how it goes down. Jackie
i would like to know the quantity of food i should give my baby for the first time and how many times a day.thanks
Hi May! That’s a bit complicated because all babies are different. Follow his lead and your instinct. You can start with roughly pureed food or if your baby is over 6 months and can manage soft pieces you can let him try to eat himself. Or both! Either way, let him eat (nutritious foods) until he says it is time to stop. Good luck! Jackie
