Homemade Almond Milk

Nut milks make a delicious and nutritious alternative to dairy milk. Almond milk has a nice creamy texture and a great nutty flavour, and works well as a stand-alone drink, on cereal or as a replacement for dairy milk in other recipes. Be sure to save the leftover pulp – it can be dried and used in other recipes as almond flour, or simply as an addition to mueslis and porridges. Nut milk can be made in many different variations with other raw nuts like cashews or hazelnuts.

Recipe tips
You can experiment with your almond milk’s flavour by adding raw pitted dates, maple syrup or vanilla at the time of blending. If you choose to leave the almond skins on, the milk will have a slightly more bitter taste.

Note: almond milk is lower in fat than the full-fat milk recommended for babies under the age of 2. If using almond milk as your baby’s main drink it is important that he gets enough fats from other sources, such as oily fish, avocadoes, coconut milk or oil and one of the various healthy oils.
