Fabulous baby falafel
Even though most people connect falafel with Lebanon or Egypt, it is until this day unclear where it originally came from. Most Middle Eastern countries have their own slightly different version of these yummie little balls made of fava beans or chick peas. Traditionally, falafel are deep-fried in oil, which gives them a lovely crunchy crust- in this recipe we’re baking them in the oven for a slightly healthier version.

Our mini falafel make great finger food, and are the perfect size for small children to hold and munch them on their own. Their smooth taste makes them a great way to introduce your baby to a world of slightly different spices than the ones commonly used in our western cuisine. And the rest of the family can enjoy them as well, of course!

Falafel are best eaten with a dip – we recommend our yoghurt & lime dip with tahini or our sugar-free homemade tomato sauce for a fabulous falafel experience!

Recipe tips
If you’re in a hurry or you don’t have dried chickpeas at hand, you can use canned chickpeas as well. Keep in mind though that the amount of sodium in canned chickpeas is very high – you can remove most of it by draining the chickpeas well and rinsing them under cold water for one minute.
